| In 1974, Uniontown
Home Center was born on the standards of hard work and fair prices. When the
store opened it had one full time and one part time employee. The store
flourished and moved to Morganfield in 1986. Now the Morganfield Home Center
employees 24 full-time employees on staff. In May of 2007 the Morganfield Home Center moved again, this time just
down the street. This new store vastly increased the size of the store, with
this move retail floor space increased from 3,500 square feet to now 15,000
square feet.
The Morganfield Home Center was the vision of
Jimmy and Carolyn Girten. Jimmy and Carolyn have since retired and their two
children Michelle Baird and Tony Girten now run the store. The Girten's
believe it is important to keep family in the business. This is evident
since Morganfield Home Center employees four of the Girten's grandsons,
Kevin, Chase, Robbie, and Travis.
